It’s very likely that Ringo read “The Railway Series” as a child. The first book was published in the 1940s. Thomas and his friends lived a merry old life on that island. And not the hellish dystopia that existed on the mainland for trains. At least that’s what Sir Topham Hatt tells them.
Thomas got a key to Will Farrell’s basement all the way back in the first book. The fact that the plots kept going on tangents about trains that could disguise themselves as humans and Thomas launching a coup against the government just distracted most people from that.
And I would like to take this opportunity to apologize for any distress my repeated comments on Freddie’s height may have caused Mr. Allison. It was by no means meant as criticism of his art, but rather the (perhaps overenthusiastic) expression of my conviction that I had spotted a plot-relevant point. Henceforth, Freddie shall be as big on the page as he was in his heart, and I shall say no more about it.
I hereby take back my vow to become a murderous barrel-maker, or “evil cooper”.

It’s ridiculous how immensely pleased I am to witness this exchange of amends in the comments. I was worried that there aren’t enough slats and hoops in the entire United Kingdom to support John Allison as a cooper. (This is intended as a compliment on his work ethic.)
This was a good role for Ringo but quite a comedown from his magnum opus “Caveman.” Not to mention his role as Merlin in “Son of Dracula” and his villainous turn in “Blindman.”

Personally, I think Ringo’s best performance was channeling Frank Zappa in 200 Motels.

Is John going to apologize to Freddy? Ringo need to get a royalty on that Train with an huge human face idea.

How does one island need so damn many trains?

Some of them are very naughty engines you see. So they won’t come out of the tunnel when the fat man tells them to.
Chas
Thomas himself can get cheeky from time to time.
But many of them are very useful engines.

And then one day a train fell off the side of the island and found themselves in Will Ferrell’s basement.

Well, it only made sense.

Why does George look so skeletal? Is he unwell?
Dean
He’s just hanging out for that saveloy and chips.

That’s just his high cheekbones.

Just having to sign up to say how much I appreciate the “Evil Cooper” reference.

Thank the old gods!

It appears that George is proto Ian Brown of the Stone Roses. Any relation?

Well, [Henriette Bimmelbahn](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wdy_2yWVvQM) looks pretty much like Ringo apart from the hairdo.

I remember George Carlin as the narrator for the Thomas stories on American TV.
Howard
Ringo was the original then Mr. Carlin

Ringo eventually evolved into George Carlin, much like a pokemon.

Ah, Mr. Conductor! A perilous undertaking, much like other ventures of the post-Beatles era.
Joe King
He had to deal with all that confusion and delay!

Today I learned that saveloy is a sausage and not a kind of wine or supper club.
