Is Freddie a force for good, or evil? An agent of chaos or a useful idiot? A genius or a dim bulb?

  1. Based on the candy he’s offering, I’d say Freddie is the Doctor.

  2. And five years later they record the song “Savoy Truffle”. Coincidence?

  3. So Freddie is ALSO meddling in the time stream

    1. You can tell because he stole Buddy Holly’s glasses! They’re probably magick!

  4. Incidentally, happy 80th birthday Ringo!

  5. Fungus schmungus. I want to know if they’re full of lizards or not.

  6. Is Brian Epstein a big fan of period radio ads?

  7. The Free sweeties move… What a diabolical man!

  8. I’m telling you now — Freddie will get his comeuppance!

    1. I see what you did there. But I will not be satisfied unless Freddie gets his comedownance and is restored to his proper height. Epstein was just a shade under 6 feet and Freddie looks slightly shorter, which would put him about the same height as JP&G. Ringo’s only 5’6″, but should still be taller than Freddie. (I can’t believe this comic has made me go look up how tall all of the Beatles are.)

      1. If messages like this are punishment for not just doing more Bobbins or Bad Machinery comics, perhaps I should have stayed retired.

        1. They’re the delectable froth that rises to the top of any internet fermentation.
Loving all the background ads, btw.

  9. What is happening to that person’s arm in the Pye Portal poster?

    1. Not sure; I can’t find the original online. But I’ve seen that poster in a museum (I can’t remember which), so points to John for reference research.

      1. Thanks for the clues! I didn’t realize it was historical. The image is still confusing but I think I get the context now.

  10. It was the 2nd doctor *Patrick Troughton) who offered free sweets. Though not jelly babies.

  11. Those beautiful old radio sets. Cloth speaker grilles and Bakelite knobs, and an amber glow inside.

  12. It’s true! The Evil One eats babies!

  13. Is this a crafty Athletico Mince reference there, or is convergent evolution in play with one of the Beatles saying ‘free sweeties’?
